We’re putting the final touches on Windows 7 Inside Out, Deluxe Edition, which has been keeping me inordinately busy. I’ll be preoccupied just a few days longer. So, to break the monotony, a quiz.
Look at the photo below. Where was it taken, and why is this place famous?
I have a couple copies of Office 2010 Inside Out to give away as prizes. for the best answer (not necessarily the first).

I say it’s the looks like the balcony from “The sound of Music!” where the Von Trapp family frolicked and sang! Is it Austria?
It’s Prague Castle and it has a special place in the history of Windows (not TM 🙂 because, in 1618, some government officials were thrown out of windows on the third floor.
Following this the word defenestration was coined, it literally means to throw from a window.
Not going to lie, I have no bloody idea…i will think about it and get back to you.
This is indeed the site of the Defenestration of Prague as described above. But the term defenestration is also a hacker “slang” term for completely removing the Microsoft Windows OS from a computer and replacing it with a better operating system typically Linux.
Don’t know… maybe a set from Star Wars: Episode 1 in the palace on Naboo…. But if you do a search for the file name on Bing Image search you see a lot of really random photos http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=P1030943.JPG&go=&form=QBIR
It was taken outside a building.
It’s famous because it’s on this blog.
Sorry, it’s Friday, the brain’s shutting down soon….
Said defenestration was not important because of the stewards who were thrown out of the window after a trial organized by rebels; as a matter of fact, they even survived. It is important because that event marked the start of the uprising of the protestant Bohemians against the catholic House of Habsburg (uprising defeated 1621) which in turn was the beginning of the thirty years war (1618-1648), which then streched over all of Europe.
( From what I know, the photograph was made out of window in the part of the castle where said officers were thrown out of the building. The window they were thrown out of should have been on your right when you made the photo. Not sure, though ).
If I am permitted a modification to my previous response. Looking at the photo again I have a feeling it may have been taken through the actual window that the folk are reputed to have been thrown from.
Is it Masaryk’s bathroom window?
So what will the Inside Out Deluxe edition contain that is not included in the current edition (which I have BTW). And when will this new edition be available?
It’s the Prague Castle.
It’s famous because it’s featured in one of the most stolen books from public libraries (http://tinyurl.com/4y2hmo4). amiright?
This question does not exist (paradoxes are awesome).
