Think you (or someone you know) has contracted a virus or been afflicted with spyware? According to Microsoft’s Security Help and Support for Home Users page, you can call 1-866-PCSAFETY (1-866-727-2338):

This phone number is for virus and other security-related support. It is available 24 hours a day for the U.S. and Canada.

If you live in another region, there’s a link to find the phone number for your area.

  4. I am having problems with verifying my windows XP software.
    It is genuine as I bought in already on the PC hardware about 6 years ago. I do still have the origoinal CD so I dont need to buy another one which is what the verification steps site is saying I should do. Is this a money making racket or can I just re- install with my original CD?
    I am not IT technical so I am not sure what to do but I am very unhappy as this has stalled all my PC functions that I need to use.
