News Hounds (motto: We watch FOX so you don’t have to) reports on the latest Fox News fear-mongering:
Juval Aviv, counter terrorism expert, claims in an article for FoxNews.com,that Americans can expect a terrorist attack as soon as tommorrow or ninety days at the latest. Aviv is full of survival advice and tips on where and how terrorists will attack us. However nothing he writes is backed up with any verifiable fact or sources.
[…]
Aviv tells readers to always carry a bottle of water and towel on mass transit so you can wet the towel and cover your face when the explosions occur. He later wrote that there will be several explosions and seven or eight cities will be hit at once.
Sound familiar? I thought so too. Apparently, someone in the Fox newsroom is channeling the late Douglas Adams:
A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have… any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.
According to the BBC, May 25 has been designated as Towel Day, in honor of Adams.
Who said anything about CNN? They’re just as bad as Fox News, a point I made yesterday. The American corporate media is disgraceful. Fox is especially disgraceful. And I care about my country deeply – go take your talking points over to Free Republic or LGF. They’re not welcome here.
At least Fox helps by giving useful advice about how to deal with terror instead of whining.
Who could question Fox’s usefulness? It creates problematic hypothetical terror scenarios and provides the solutions too.
Of course, these scenarios aren’t based upon any evidence, so they only serve to fill the minds of viewers with thousands of forms of terror, all of which are imaginary.
This guy is an A$$HOLE!!!
He claims a lot of things he is not.
Believe me I’m Israeli and work in the security domain ahd we are hell pissed of this guy.
The only thing I can say is – professionals who who knows about threats don’t rush and make claims via the media – they ELIMINATE the threats!
Ed’s right on. Grandma’s wisdom still rings true: the ones boasting are the ones with the most to hide. FOX’s incessant “Fair and Balanced” mantra is their best defense (in the form of a good offense) against the fact that FOX is the most biased news source in America; more biased than any so-called “liberal media” org is or ever was. It’s sad; the media used to be there to hold government’s feet to the fire, along with the feet of all those who control the power and money in our great Democracy. The Fifth Estate used to be the one place to which you could turn for the people’s side of the story, giving balance to the ubiquitous political and corporate propaganda. FOX, Clear Channel, Limbaugh, and others have essentially reversed that notion, and instead have become paid cheerleaders for both private and public propagandists. It’s all about money and power and a little something called “fascism.” Look into it – it doesn’t have a great track record.
