Although I live in a golf mecca, I don’t play. In fact, I haven’t picked up a set of golf clubs since I was 10 years old, and watching golf ranks up there with watching paint dry on my list of fun ways to spend a Sunday afternoon.
But even I, jaded as I am, can appreciate how good Tiger Woods is. Just look at this shot. (The link to the 30-second clip will show you all you need to see.) Wow. Just … wow.

Yes, he hit a great shot there.
And the next shot he hit – the drive off the 17th – was a stinker. It ended up on the fairway of the adjacent hole. Marco’s went down the middle.
And had his opponent had the merest better piece of luck on his 3rd shot on the 18th, he’d have beaten Woods – the ball would have gone in, and Woods would have bogeyed to be -12, vs Marco’s -11. As it was, they TIED.
Woods’s great shot on the 16th wasn’t the end of the story. Why else was a playoff needed?
I dislike the myth that’s already appearing around this shot.
Charles, why you talking the shot down, that was one the of the best chips you are ever likely to see. So stop talking shit and just appreciate the shot.
Charles, give me a break. The man is amazing and you still put him down. Who cares if he had a drive that landed on another fairway. Anybody who plays golf has done that, but who that plays golf can do what Tiger did. It was an amazing shot hands down.
