Windows Media meets Linux. Universe survives.

I am shocked – shocked! – to discover that a Linux distributor is supporting Microsoft’s Windows Media Format:

“Turbolinux becomes the first major Linux distributor to ship a media player capable of streaming pure Windows Media format audio and video.”

Don’t they realize that this is the software equivalent of having matter and anti-matter collide, and that the entire universe could disappear?

  1. So no doubt, we can soon expect a new version of Windows Media Player to support the “enhanced” Windows streaming format for both audio and video. Resolution at 16Kbps will no doubt be comparable to DVD… Of course, the new enhanced format will be incompatible with “some 3rd party software.”

    After all, we can’t have the universe imploding, now can we? 😉
